The Joy of the Lord
Psalms 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made i will rejoice and be glad in it.
Each new day is a gift from God, and through Christ we have the power to decide how we are going to live through each day. We also have the power to decide how we want to see each day. We can decide to wake up and go through the day in a spirit or attitude of defeat, or we can decide to tap into faith and live in a place of victory, no matter what the devil is throwing our way. We can decide to go through the day with praise and thanksgiving or we can choose focus on the negative and cultivate a complaining spirit. We can choose to sit at home and complain about all the sad things that have happened to us, or we can choose to go out and do something that will bring joy into our hearts.
It is all about choices and how you position yourself. The writer of psalm 118:24 understood that. So he did not only acknowledge that this day is a gift from God, but also he decided how he was going to go through the day, and then he made a declaration. It's important to remember and believe that when we declare a thing it shall be established unto us ( Job 22:28). It is best to make such declarations early in the morning to set the tone for rest of your day.
Your positive attitude and declarations may not stop the negative events of the day, but it will certainly position you and affect how you respond to that which is happening outside of you. Each new day is born with joy from the morning (psalm 30:5) and the devil knows it. And the bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
So to rob us of this gift (John 10:10a), the enemy disturbs our night rest, followed by hopeless confusing dreams and wakes us up with eyes and minds fixed on negativity. Waking up like this brings a spirit of heaviness, takes away your joy which leaves you strengthless.
But when you know that the will of God is, for you to have joy in the morning and remember that there is also a thief who will do everything in his power to rob you of this joy, all you have to do is take authority and rebuke the enemy. Begin to declare like the psalmist did. Proclaim the word of God and remember His promises. Think of the goodness of the Lord and sing praises unto His Holy name. Cultivate the spirit of worship and thanksgiving unto God which will release the joy of the Lord in your life. Knowing that all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. So in all things, through Christ we win.
God bless you.
